Siegfried Schonert told, that the announcing lists will be available on Tuesday the 5th of July. Luxemburg is the only nation
who cancelled the start. The middle distance runner David Fiegen, the only participant for his country got injured.
Altogether 45 nations with about 1000 athletes, participating in 44 disciplines will be placed in twelve hotels. Star of the
championships could be the heptathlete Carolina Klüft (Sweden). She will defend her title in Long Jump. Decathlon may be the
highlight. 34 athletes announced.
Siegfried Schonert aspects 2000 spectators on the days of qualification Thursday and Friday. At the weekend, where the most
decisions take place, he aspects more interested people.

Athletes from Erfurt should be local heroes. Stefan Eberhardt participates in 1500 meters. His coach Dieter Hermann is impressed
of the tall man. "He is very talented. In contrast to Nils Schumann he is not that fast. His strengt his the endurance. In view of
the European U23 Championships he warns of high expectations. "I won`t put the bite on him. Other nations have also strong athletes."
The coach recognizes a springboard in these championships. "European Championships U23 always generated top- athletes. Last but
